ZANESVILLE, Ohio – WHIZ is happy to announce Captain Chadwick Watiker as one of the winners of our 6th annual Military Salute Photo Contest. Watiker served in the Airforce and he was presented a flag in front of his family and friends at The Barn on Thursday where he reflected on the community he served.

“Just being part of this community and the diversity we have in this community and the unity that we have in this community and how we can just… It’s wonderful to see this community support one another,” Watiker said. “And I’ve seen it in real time, where we’ve had friends who are in need and Blue Devils, or Panthers, or all those in the community help support those friends or families in any way we can. ”

Jim Watson, an owner of The Barn and a fellow veteran, shared his thoughts on what Watiker said about the importance of community and the military.

“He talked about unity and the word community. And unity’s right in the word community and just the importance of recognizing the fact that everybody can come together,” Watson said. “You know, Chad and the other Airforce guys, the Army guys, the Marines, the Coast Guard, Space Force. You know all of those military folks come together to protect us and protect our rights and make sure we have the freedoms to do the things that we do and I think it’s just great that we live in a community where it’s public recognition of the efforts that they put forth. ”

WHIZ thanks Chadwick Watiker for his service and presented him an American flag made by Annin Flag Company in Coshocton.
