WWII Veteran Honored Through WHIZ Military Salute

ZANESVILLE, OH – Another Veteran has been honored for his service through the WHIZ Military Salute.
Major Carl David Schubach fought in WWII from 1941 through 1946 and was even featured on the February 1943 cover of Life Magazine.
He was honored for his service with a flag presentation at Park National Bank and his children, David Schubach and Linda Gutridge-Schubach, were in attendance to accept it on his behalf.
David says he was the one to receive the flag from their father’s funeral so he is gifting this new flag to his sister Linda so they can both have a piece of their dad.
“They went on to serve on Patton’s staff and he was shipwrecked in the middle of the ocean, then went into the island of Bermuda and while the ship was getting repaired, he met this pretty girl.” David Schubach said. “He said ‘If I make it through the war, can I come back and marry you?’ and she said yes and he did.” “And here we are.” Linda Gutridge-Schubach said.
Anthony Adornetto, the Trust Officer at Park National, is a veteran himself and says this flag presentation was very special.
“It’s absolutely an honor, on behalf of Park National Bank. I’m a Marine Corp Veteran myself, served in Iraq.” Adornetto said. “I treasure, obviously there aren’t many members of the WWII generation left, but it’s an honor to be here to recognize them.”
The American flag presented to Schubach’s children was made in Coshocton at the Annin Flag Company.
