Joseph Kane

Joseph Thomas Leon Kane, 72, of Cambridge, passed away October 9, 2025, in his home, surrounded by his family after a five year battle with cancer.
Joe was born November 16, 1952, the son of the late Joseph Thomas Kane and Nettie Margaret Scanlon. A man of deep faith, Joe was a lifelong Catholic who carried his beliefs quietly but sincerely throughout his life. Joe was an artist who loved to paint and draw. After graduating from the Columbus School of Art & Design, he spent many years as a talented sign painter. He returned to school later in life, obtaining his nursing license. He cared compassionately for his patients until he retired in 2015 to spend more time with his grandchildren.
A lifelong lover of music—especially blues and jazz—Joe was a true guitar connoisseur. He played, collected, and rebuilt guitars with passion and care. In his early years, he enjoyed playing with his band, Amerika. Joe found great joy and peace in his family, especially his grandchildren, whom he loved more than life. He was known for his laid-back personality and wonderful sense of humor, which could light up any room. Joe will be remembered not only for his artistry and musicianship but for his warmth, laughter, and the love he shared so freely.
He is survived by his lifelong sweetheart, Jamie Yeager; children, Josephine “JoJo” (Dylan Albaugh) Kane, Jordan (Brett) Turrentine, Jessica Kane, J. W. Kane, JoDee (Justin) DeMond; Step children, Kaylub Yeager, Maggie Anderson, Kate Hagar, Jeff Hagar, & Rachelle Leonard; sister Jennie (Larry) Parry; grandchildren, Maddix, Rowan, Maverick, Archer, Zoey, Aspen, Hayden, Tatum, Cohen, Braelynn, Keilani, Michiah, Jansen, Jayda, Ethan, Gwynn, Jace, Liam, Emmett, Liliana, Evelyn, Brenne & Tyler; nephews, Dylan (Olivia) Parry, Aaron Parry; niece Beth (Garrett) Young; cousin Ralph Dix, & life-long friend, John Gifford.
