Citizens CVNEW CONCORD, Ohio- Members of a local community came together to voice their concerns about possible environmental threats posed by an oil and gas company project..

Some residents in New Concord formed a group called Concerned Citizens of New Concord. This group was formed to inform the community about the impact of the oil and gas industry on the state of Ohio and the Village of New Concord.

“There is a permit for an injection well that is just a little bit south of the Village of New Concord,” said Concerned Citizens of New Concord organizer Meghan Wynne. “And we decided to object to that well. And we wrote a letter to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources objecting to the well. There is lot of scientific research connecting these wells to pollution, health risks, increased seismic activity.”

The Concerned Citizens of New Concord held its first meeting Tuesday.

“I was surprising at the meeting even last night, among these 18 people several didn’t know what an injection well was. And so they were surprised to learn that it is a device for putting waste into the ground,” said Wynne
