The Center For Seniors Host Art Show

ZANESVILLE, Ohio-Â In addition to the art walk on display downtown. You can view works of art made by local seniors.
The Center for Seniors is having an art show displaying paintings, wood work, and paper mache. This art show displays the work the seniors in the art class have done. The art show will be on display for three weeks. Tonight the senior center will have a reception from 4 to 6 o clock celebrating the kick of the the art show.
“We have about 50 or 60 entries paintings,” said Center for Seniors art instructor Marjorie Johnson.”We have probably 30 people involved in that including the wood craving. We meet every Monday at 12 o clock. Usually the center for furnish a 9 by 12 canvas paper. We furnish brushes and paints. We put a dollar in the pot and we just have a good time.”
Johnson has been apart of the art class since the senior center started offering art classes back in 1999.
“I think it’s very relaxing. And we laugh, joke, and carry on. And some times the lady in charge come out and looks at us sternly. But we have a lot of fun. We enjoy it. And it’s just an outlet for people who want to be creative. And we don’t care of you can draw a straight line, because we don’t want straight lines,” said Johnson.
The center is open Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. On Monday, Tuesday, and Friday nights the center is open until 10 p.m.
