Sachiko Lacy

Sachiko “Sachi” (Kobayashi) Lacy, 94, of Dresden, Ohio, died Saturday, November 1, 2025, at Primrose Retirement Community in Zanesville where she had resided for the past four years.
Born December 19, 1930, in Yokohama, Japan, she was the daughter of Toyo and Hatoko (Tsubata) Kobayashi. Sachi spent the first 42 years of her life in Japan, where she attended tailoring and dressmaking school, and worked in a department store.
She met her husband, Delbert “Zuke” Lacy while he was employed in federal civil service with the U.S. Army at Camp Zama, Japan. They were married December 22, 1966. After Delbert’s retirement in 1972, they relocated to his hometown of Dresden with their young son.
Sachi was a gifted homemaker, cook, and seamstress as well as a talented artist. She enjoyed hosting and entertaining family and friends at her home, traveling with her husband, gardening, and crafts. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and will be lovingly remembered as being kind, gracious, respectful, and welcoming to everyone she met.
Sachi is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Derek and Juliet Lacy of Dresden; three grandchildren, Sean (Anastasia Barrett), Keira, and Gwendolyn Lacy; a sister, Yasuko Kamikura; two brothers, Yuji Kobayashi and Yutaka Kobayashi; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband who died December 24, 2019.
Calling hours will be 2 pm to 4 pm Sunday, November 9, 2025 at the Dresden Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral home, 714 Main Street.
