WHIZ Military Salute Honors Air Force Vet. Jim Downing

ZANESVILLE, OH – We continue honoring our local veterans with another Military Salute.

Jim Downing was honored with a flag presented by Job Talent Connect and his niece Lisa Burkhart received it on his behalf.

Burkhart, who submitted her uncle for this honor, says he served in the Air Force from 1964 until 1968. She says he was stationed in many places like Vietnam and California where he completed combat training.

“It’s very overwhelming, I’m glad he served and he’s a you know, humble, he won’t even talk about his service.” Burkhart said. “He just, it was the time he spent, you know.”

Christy Dugan, a Staffing Specialist and Job Talent Connect, says it was an honor to be able to present Downing’s family with his flag, especially so close to Veteran’s Day.

“It’s just very heartwarming.” Dugan said. “To be able to honor vets and their families.”

Downing’s flag came from the Annin Flag Company located in Coshocton.
