Animal Shelter Society Pet of the Week: Meet Boone!

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – It’s time to check in with the Animal Shelter Society in Zanesville to meet our pet of the week. Meet Boone! He’s about to be 9 years old, is super loving, and gets the spotlight today in honor of Senior Pet Month.
“He’s very loyal to his owner, and that’s just how he likes it. He’s a lap dog, he likes his baths, he likes his pools, he likes riding in the car, but he wants to be the only animal in the residence,” said April Gibson, executive director of the Animal Shelter Society. “…senior dogs and senior cats, you know, with us I think are easier to deal with than the puppies and the kittens cause they’re already established and Boon is that dog. So, you know, don’t give up on your senior pets. They deserve just as much as the younger cute ones.”
Gibson also wanted to take a moment to thank those involved in a recent Veterans Day event helping veterans and their pets.
“Thank you again to Park National Bank, Pat Nash and his team. We had a great showing of veterans coming in to receive the free microchips on Tuesday,” said Gibson. “We opened up just for them and you know that assures that those animals are going to be brought back to their rightful owner… ”
The final update from the Animal Shelter Society is a new supply drive being ran in partnership with Riley Armstrong at Western & Southern Life.
“For the holiday season we have each chose kind of like a non-profit so I have chose to work with April and the Animal Shelter Society so that we can raise some donations for dogs like Boon and all the other animals there just so they make sure that they have the stuff that they need. Not only during the holiday season but all the time,” Armstrong said. “I’ve placed a couple boxes at different businesses here in the Zanesville area. We have one here at our Zanesville office on Brandywine. And then, Phillips Meat Processing on Ridge Road and I have the other box at Pike 40 Energy and Nutrition on West 40. So, there’s a couple places to drop things off or if you are wanting to make a donation for this cause I would be more than happy to meet you, whatever I can do to help.”
