ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Sporting events draw crowds, which provide excellent opportunities to raise funds for worthy causes.

Genesis Healthcare Foundation Executive Director Kelly Ashby shared how her organization will benefit from an OHSAA sanctioned basketball doubleheader that will feature the Blue Devil boys and girls scrimmaging regional opponents.

“We are partnering with Zanesville High School and we are part of the Foundation Basketball Games, which is so cool and such a good partnership,” Ashby said. “Genesis Foundation participating in the foundation basketball games. And foundation basketball games allow the boys and girls teams to actually have one additional scrimmage before the season starts.”

The event will give the Genesis Healthcare Foundation an opportunity to share some fun with the public while informing them about the improvements they are making to better serve the community.

“The basketball players will all have Genesis and Blue Devil t-shirts on, we’re going to do some fun things during halftimes of both games, we have an amazing Blue Devil quilt that we are raffling off,” Ashby said. “So we do have some fun videos that we’re going to showcase that talk about programs at Genesis. We’re going to do some 3-point shots, we’re going to do the half-court shots. So there’s going to be some prizes available and we will have the opportunity to talk about Genesis, talk about the hospice and talk about future healers.”

The Foundation Basketball Event will take place Saturday, November 22nd with the first game tipoff at 6 p.m. The girls varsity will be taking on the Trimble Tomcats prior to the boys varsity hosting the Coshocton Redskins.
