ZANESVILLE, Ohio – This weeks dog of the week is a loving lady with many tricks. Meet Miss Thickums!

Thickums is a two-year-old terrier who keeps a clean kennel, is spayed and up do date on all her shots. She also an ulcer on her eye from an old injury but it doesn’t bother her and gives her a unique look. She’s kid friendly, dog friendly and ready for a new home.

“She also loves to take treats and we found out she will actually even sit and speak while doing that. So, that’s kind of unique in her own way,” said Doug McQuaid, a volunteer at the Muskingum County Sheriff’s K-9 Adoption Center. “She is a larger dog as you can see so that would be something that, while walking, you would just be mindful of. She seems to do well on a leash but just always, you know, sometimes different things happen and their attentive to and they maybe want to push or pull one way or the other. Just make sure you have a good hold on her. ”

McQuaid, says there are plenty of resources available at the adoption center for those who may need help caring for their pets.

“We were donated flea spray for dogs. We have quite a bit so if that would be something that you would be interested in, you’re more than welcome to stop by and pick up a can. We still have t-shirts [for sale] and we still have plenty of dog food to give away too. So, please if you’re in need of dog food, do not hesitate to stop by and ask for that. We’ll load it up in your vehicle. Just let us know what you have, how many dogs you have or something to that nature. But, we basically just want to be able to help you out. ”
