ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Central Trinity United Methodist Church has plans that can keep you busy from Thanksgiving to Christmas.

The church in downtown Zanesville is hosting 7 events ranging from a cookie walk to 96th annual performance of Handel’s “Messiah” by the Zanesville Civic Chorus and Orchestra including a special Christmas Eve service. Music director, Jim McLaughlin says he loves being apart of a church willing host so many events for the community.

“It’s an honor to be a Central Trinity. The church started in 1865, it’s been downtown since 1865 and it’s just known for ministry and cooperating with other churches as well as doing its own ministry. So, trying to be a light in this community and peace offering institute also,” McLaughlin said.

The eventful holiday season at the Central Trinity United Methodist Church kicks of on Nov. 30 with Table at the Stable which will feature a manger scene and music provided by the youth groups of the church. McLaughlin says his favorite part of the holiday line-up are the Christmas Eve services which start at 4;30 and 11 p.m.

“Parents will be there. Some maybe haven’t been there for a while, you know. You got extra family that’s visiting you, ‘why don’t we go to church for Christmas Eve?'” McLaughlin said. “So the place is packed and it’s an exciting time and with the candle light it’s just a very special time with us singing ‘Silent Night’ at the end by candle light, that’s always fun.”
