Once Upon A Christmas Returns for 12th Year

ZANESVILLE, OH – A beloved Zanesville tradition is back and better than ever for its twelfth year.
Once Upon a Christmas is returning to the Secrest Auditorium Stage on Saturday, Dec. 13th at 2PM and 7PM.
Each year, Director Shelly Burley, takes the time to write a completely new holiday variety show for the community to enjoy and this year the audience is in for quite a treat.
“In the writing, we have four friends who start the show. They’re mature in age, we’ve got Josephine, Beatrice, Clara, and Alice.” Burley said. “Now, when I say these women are mature in age, they are mature in age and they are going to bring the laughs. They’re going to bring the comedic relief we all need around right now and they are going about their busy day and a mysterious man shows up at the door, yes, and he’s an FBI agent. He’s there to talk to the great-great-great-granddaughter of Amelia Witherspoon, which is Beatrice.”
Burley says these characters will go on a journey of finding out how they’re all connected from events that happened long ago.
She also says over the 12 years, they have had over 600 performers hit the stage to bring holiday joy.
Kendra Kent, a Vocal Coach and Actress playing Josephine, says she’s been involved in the shows for about 10 years and can’t wait for the community to see what they have in store.
“I was pretty young when I started, just little.” Kent said. “But every year it gets better and better, the cast is always so great.” Kent said. “I mean, we’re a big family, and yeah, we work together really well. We’re all like minded in that way, to just bring the community a laugh and just joy.”
All of the proceeds from Once Upon A Christmas will be headed to Christ’s Table to help them prepare for the holiday season.
Over the past 11 years, the show has been able to provide the Table with over 132,000 meals.
