Community support shines at 33rd Festival of Trees Auction

ZANESVILLE, OH- The Festival of Trees Auction returned to downtown Zanesville , drawing steady crowds and nonstop bidding as the Chamber of Commerce marked its 33rd year of the holiday tradition.

More than 200 handcrafted trees, wreaths and themed displays filled the Welcome Center, all donated by businesses and organizations across Muskingum County. Phones lit up throughout the morning as bidders called and texted in offers while others browsed in person.

“It has been an amazing morning, we kicked off the 33rd Annual Festival of Trees Auction at 9 a.m. and we’ll be here until 6 p.m., the phones are ringing and we’re just so grateful and blessed for everybody here helping us and supporting us ,” said Chamber of Commerce Vice President Lydia Tom.

The auction is the Chamber’s biggest fundraiser of the year, with each 15-minute segment closing out a new winning bid. The event supports more than 700 member businesses, and organizers say the turnout is reflecting the community’s momentum heading into the holiday season.

“This is the Chambers largest annual fundraiser of the year, our team has worked so hard to put this together and we’re just so grateful for the community support, we have over 213 entries here all donated by local businesses, organizations, nonprofits, so we just hope for a successful event and we can’t thank the community enough,” said Tom.

Bidding continues until 6 p.m. , and those who win can pick up their items  morning or  at the Welcome Center.
