Terry Winnell

Terry J. Winnell age 76, of Caldwell, OH passed away Thursday, December 11, 2025 at his home. He was born July 1, 1949 in Charleston, WV son of the late Joe and Betty Oxley Winnell.

He served and protected his nation in the United States Navy aboard the USS Yosemite. Terry graduated with his bachelor’s degree from Marshall University. From there, he went on to be a middle school teacher for years in West Virginia. He loved animals, especially his cats and dogs. He enjoyed reading and working in the yard.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son Joe Winnell.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Judy James whom he married August 8, 2009; son Ben (Laurie Barraclough) Winnell of Huntersville, NC; daughter-in-law Mia Winnell of Castle Rock, CO; special grandson Noah Winnell of Huntersville, NC; step-son T.J. (Annette) Nagel of Columbus, OH; sisters Debby (Herb) Peters of WV and Cathy Purewal of Summerville, SC; aunt Judy Shipes of Huston, TX; sister-in-law Sally (Nick) Bogert of Lakeside, MI; brother-in-law Bill (Sharon) James of Austin, TX. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Following with Terry’s wishes, there will be no formal memorial service or funeral. Terry’s cremains will be spread in locations around his home. Chandler Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 609 West Street Caldwell, Ohio 43724 has been entrusted to care for the family.
