The 32nd Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship Fund Breakfast is set for Jan. 19

MLK Jr. Breakfast

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The 32nd Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship Fund Breakfast returns to recognize students and community members alike.

11 college-bound students will be in the spotlight for their academic achievements, which has also led to them receiving scholarships from the Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship Fund.

“I am very excited, because of the fact that the students are really, truly aiming to do their best and we have had great outcomes of them completing their college and being very successful,” said Kathy Brantley, founder of scholarship fund. “And the best part is that they come back home to work and they bring their talents here. And that is really a plus for Muskingum County. Not only do we celebrate them and cheer them on, they come back to offer their services to the community…”

The breakfast is a major fundraiser for the scholarship fund and takes place on Jan. 19 at the North Terrace Church of Christ in Zanesville at 9 a.m.

“It will be wonderful for you to purchase your tickets online and you can purchase your tickets at www.MLKScholarshipfund.org, or you can go through the Muskingum County Community Foundation’s website or go to the Welcome Center and purchase them. They’re only $15 and the tickets will serve you a wonderful breakfast but you’ll be also helping a wonderful cause,” Brantley said.

The breakfast event will additionally be recognizing the Animal Shelter Society Incorporated as its 2026 Honoree for its contributions to the community.
