Metzger to Represent John Glenn in Blue-Grey All-American Bowl Game
NEW CONCORD, OH – One of John Glenn’s football stars is heading South, at least for one game.
Senior running back Reese Metzger will be playing in the third game of the Blue-Grey All-American Bowl, which is down at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas on Monday, January 5th. Metzger is one of just four Ohio-based payers on the East team for this game, and the second Muskie to play over these three games after Ryder Pennington featured in the Orlando game recently.
The first team All-MVL running back wrapped up his Muskies career with 21 touchdowns and over 1500 yards as a senior, and is more than deserving to play in the game.
“Coach reached out to me about the game, saying he would love to invite me down for the game” says Metzger. “I talked with my family about it, and they thought it would be a good idea to compete.”
Though, the soon-to-be former Muskie had to go through some steps before officially getting the invite to Arlington.
“I went to the regional up in Canton, and we did the regional, did great there. (I) was one of the top two running backs. I was up there, so I got selected.
Reese was surprised at his selection, but is grateful for the biggest showcase of his young career.
“I was a bit shocked at first. I was just blessed to be able to get the opportunity to go down there and compete.”
The game will kick off at 1 pm, and can be viewed on delay the following day on the Impact Football Network website.
