Zanesville Police Department extra enforcement for Holidays
While most people may get a nice holiday break this weekend the Zanesville Police Department will be one of the local law enforcement organizations working to keep the community safe.
The Chief of Zanesville Police Department Tony Coury said they’ll have more units on the road this weekend and more enforcement out in the bar districts tonight.
“We just want to make sure that everyone has a good time they enjoy the establishments, but they also abide by the rules,” said Coury. “They don’t leave intoxicated, they don’t walk around with open containers of alcohol, and if they do then of course we are writing citations for that.”
Coury suggested that if anyone is hosting a holiday party to take everyone’s keys once they arrive and return them if they’re okay to leave.
“Make sure that people leaving your party have not had too many beverages and not only leave and hurt their self or hurt a bystander,” said Coury.
” Were going to ask everybody to use designated drivers, to take advantage of the areas taxi service,” said Coury. “Some of the liqueur establishments  do offer some types of rides home.”
Coury says he’s sure that every establishment in town if asked would make sure a person would get home safely and leave their car at the establishment.
