Karen S. Swingle, 62, of Zanesville, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at 8:12 p.m. on Sunday, January 11, 2026, at Adams Lane Care Center in Zanesville. She was born Friday, June 28, 1963, in Zanesville, the daughter of Wilbur L. Black and Eleanor N. (Gebhart) Black.

Karen married the love of her life, David A. Swingle, on February 17, 1990, and together they shared 35 years of marriage.

Karen worked at the Comfort Inn of Zanesville and Walmart. She later embraced life as a homemaker and had a special love for children, sharing that love through her work as a babysitter. She loved to cook and bake, was an avid card player, and enjoyed going to yard sales. Karen was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and sister who greatly cherished the time she spent with her family and friends.

Karen is survived by her husband, David Swingle; her daughter, Jessica Swingle (Adam Hollingshead); her step-daughter, Davina Nelson; her five step-grandchildren, Kiana, Aryana, Connor, Kohen, and Azerah. She is also survived by her brother, Jeff Black; father-in law, Gene Swingle; her brothers- and sisters-in-law, Jennifer Russell; Robin (Warren) Daniels; Saundra (Steve) Fisher; Candi Enderle; DeeDee (Mark) Jenkins; Dana (Donna) Swingle; and Jude (Angie) Swingle; her two aunts, Evelyn Wilson and Julie Gilreath; along with her nieces, nephews, and numerous cousins. She also leaves behind one special friend, Rita Brosie.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbur L. Black and Eleanor N. (Gebhart) Black; her mother-in-law, Mary Swingle; as well as her aunts and uncles.

Karen’s family would like thank Hospice of Central Ohio and Adams Lane Care Center, Memory Unit, for all the care and attention given to Karen during her illness.
