Lila Mayle

Lila Lee Mayle, 85, of Zanesville, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, January 14, 2026. Lila was born on January 31, 1940, to Sidney and Myrtle Mayle. In addition to her parents, Lila was preceded in death by her loving husband, Benjamin Mayle, and her children, Kevin Stevens, Lisa Croston, and Jannie McCorvey, as well as eleven siblings.

Lila devoted her life to creating a home filled with love, warmth, and togetherness. As a homemaker, she made her house the heart of the family—where grandchildren, relatives, and friends always knew they were welcome. Her home became the gathering place for countless memories, especially the cherished New Year’s Eve tradition with her and her beloved husband, Benjamin “Grandpa Benny.” Those nights remain some of her grandchildren’s most treasured moments.
A passionate reader, Lila found joy in books for many years. When her eyesight no longer allowed her to read, she delighted in hearing the Bible read aloud, finding comfort and strength in Scripture. She also expressed her love through her hands, crocheting blankets for her family and friends—each one a gift of warmth, time, and care.
Within the community, Lila was known for her welcoming smile, her gentle spirit, and her kind heart. Even as she faced numerous surgeries and ongoing health challenges, her light never dimmed. Her resilience, grace, and unwavering love left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.
Lila will be deeply missed and forever remembered for the love she gave, the comfort she created, and the legacy of kindness she leaves behind.
