Muskingum County Commissioners President

The Muskingum County Commissioners have voted for the 2017 Board President.

Muskingum County Commissioner, Jim Porter is this years president. Porter said the President’s role is not too different from the other members. The President has to set the agenda for meetings and sign documents on behalf of the board.

“First of all I’d like to thank the Commissioner [Cindy] Cameron for nominating me to be president of the board of 2017,” said Porter. “It’s an honor, I look forward to serve the board for another year. [We] got a lot on the agenda and looking forward to a good year.”

Porter said the Commissioners will spend a lot of time budgeting and appropriating funds.

“We’ve got a lot on the table, it’s business as usual,” said Porter. “We were fortunate enough to plead our 2017 budget in December. We had a little time to work on that. Again general funds around 33 million.

Porter said this year they’ll be working on water projects, sewer projects, and possibly finding a place for an industrial park in the county.
