DRESDEN, Ohio- The Dresden library is closer to reopening new doors.

Renovations are underway at the Dresden Branch of the Muskingum County Library System.

Assistant Director, Blair Tom, said they are very excited about how the project is progressing.

“The communication and coordination between the contractor and the library design team has been extraordinary,” said Tom.

According to Tom, the construction project is on schedule.

“It’s exciting to see that what we envisioned with the community input is coming to fruition with the design as it moves forward,” said Tom.

The renovations will be complete with interactive features for smaller children, as well as a wall of computers and a reading lounge.

It’s been 17 years since this library location had been updated or renovated. Tom said the Dresden location is the busiest branch.

“We collect and share the story, the innovations and the creativity of the past and then inspire the innovations and creativity and movement for the future,” said Tom. “I think the community is going to be delighted, as you know Dresden is celebrating their bicentennial, and libraries really fit into that.”

The library is set to open their doors on January 27th with an open house from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. to welcome the community back to their library.
