Interest in yoga rises

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Community members of all ages are taking a big interest in yoga classes at the Muskingum Recreation Center.
Building strength, awareness, and even burning calories is the attraction to yoga. With multiple classes offered each week, yogi’s can get a great mental and physical workout in just one hour.
Sandy Booth, a yoga instructor at the Muskingum Recreation Center, said yoga is holistic. When coming to a yoga class, not only are you working physically, but you’re also tuning in mentally to your body and the way the breath moves through the body.
Beginner classes to hot yoga gives yogi’s a chance to start in a class that they feel comfortable with. Instructors modify classes for each particular person.
“Yoga is a great place to start, because we can start somebody either in a chair or at the wall standing,” said Booth. They begin to open up their body even more and use strength that they didn’t even realize they had.”
The Muskingum Recreation Center offers a variety of yoga classes. Check out their website Muskingumrecreationcenter.org for more information.
