ZANESVILLE, Ohio - A local business teamed up with their software provider to host a Fusion 360 training.

Saunders Machine Works held today‘s workshop with the help of Autodesk the company provider for the software, Fusion 360. Saunders Machine Works Owner and NYC CNC YouTube personality, John Saunders says about 100 local people attended today‘s event to learn about Fusion 360 and how it works with machines.

“I think they’re seeing now and this is something we do with our YouTube videos,” Saunders said. “We walk through how it’s becoming easier and more accessible. The software is free to hobbyists, it’s free to students, and it’s relatively in expensive for folks in the industries. So you want to get one of these machines, you can now have the ability to control it. Which is really cool.”

Self taught machinist, Saunders said to have an idea of a product in his mind, to designing the product, and then having the product in his hand just a few hours to a few days later is extremely cool. Autodesk Sales Manager, Joe Bailey said all their products are free for download to students and ‘Makers’ who are people who make less than a hundred thousand dollars a year.

“One thing that is very important about Autodesk is that we want people to make things,” said Bailey. “Anybody, you, the students anyone. We want you to dream, we want you to create and so how do we do that? In one way is to allow the software to have access to it. Then we priced it in a way with subscription and things that you can go ahead and get started any way you want.”

Saunders will be holding an open house event in May and Saunders also travels the country teaching Fusion 360 and machine work. For more information visit saundersmachineworks.com
