Theodore “Ted” E. Mautz, 99, of Zanesville, died at 5:25 P.M. on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at Primrose Retirement Community. He was born July 6, 1926, in Zanesville, a son of the late Otto and Effie Mautz. Ted proudly served our country as a Veteran of the United States Army during WWII. Ted’s love of driving started at just 11 years old when he got caught driving the family car! He loved it so much he pursued a career as a Teamster, and continued that love of being on the open road until the age of 93. Ted enjoyed playing cards and Bingo. He was a member of the American Legion, the VFW, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles, being the longest living member. He was a lifetime member of Immanuel Church and while at Primrose he enjoyed the services provided by the North Terrace Church of Christ. He also served as a Trustee for Teamster Local 637.
Ted is survived by a sister, Peggy Jones, of Florida; his son James (Carole) Mautz; his son-in-law, Robert (Kathy) Fahey; as well as his grandchildren, Chad (Amy) Mautz, Kelly (Daniel) Leavy, Matthew (Kelly) Fahey, and Katie (Paul) Simonson; along with eight great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Ruth Ann Mautz; his daughter, Rebecca Fahey; and his brothers, Robert, Richard, and Parry.
Friends and family may call from 11:00 A.M. until the time of funeral service starting at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, January 30, 2026, at the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE with Daniel Leavy officiating. Ted will be laid to rest at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery beside his wife with full Military honors accorded to him by the United States Army in conjunction with the VFW George Selsam Post 1058.
