Eileen Strickler marks 100 years with celebration at The Center

Eileen Stricklers 100th Birthday

ZANESVILLE, OH- A very special milestone was celebrated at The Center in Zanesville. One of its most dedicated members, Eileen Strickler, just turned 100 years old on January 27, and the staff wanted to make sure it was a birthday to remember.

The Center regularly honors members with monthly birthday celebrations, but January’s gathering was extra special. Friends, staff, and family gathered to recognize Strickler not only for her age, but for her continued involvement at The Center.

“I think everybody likes to be acknowledged for their birthday and have fun, here at The Center we do it every month, once a month we have everybody who’s had a birthday, like in January, we have everybody come up and share how old they are and then give us a special tidbit about themselves,” said Kate Paul, Executive Director at The Center.

Strickler is a familiar face around The Center and is known for staying active and social throughout the week. Staff says her presence is felt across many of the daily activities.

“She is a very active person here at the center, she plays cards, Bridge and Euchre, she comes for lunch with her son, she plays Bingo with us, she’s just very active at The Center,” said Paul.

There is more to Strickler’s story than just reaching 100 years old. According to Paul, she once served in the FBI. Now, a century into her life, Eileen Strickler continues to be a familiar and inspiring part of The Center in Zanesville.
