Longtime WHIZ Morning Broadcast Technician Passes Away

ZANESVILLE, OH – A longtime WHIZ employee has passed away.

Thomas Hatfield, our morning master control operator, passed away from a sudden illness on Tuesday Morning at his home.

He was born June 14th, 1967 and began working at WHIZ when he was a junior in high school. Tom was a 1985 graduate of Zanesville High School and worked on and off and a broadcast technician for over 40 years.

In his free time he enjoyed golfing, riding his four-wheeler and was an avid fan of dirt track racing as well as the Cincinnati Reds.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM to 4:00PM on Sunday, February 1st, with the funeral service to be held at 11:00 AM Monday, February 2nd, at the Bryan & Hardwick Funeral Home.

Tom was 58-years-old.
