James Scott

James “Jim” Leroy Scott, 80, of Cambridge, passed away on Friday, January 30, 2026, at AlterCare of Cambridge.
He was born on October 8, 1945, in Caldwell, the son of the late Donna (Baker) Easterday and Carlos Easterday.
A 1963 graduate of Byesville High School, Jim spent many years working at NCR in computer programming. After NCR moved away from Cambridge, Jim took a position as a programmer with the Department of Rehab and Corrections.
Jim was a proud US Army veteran.
He has been a member of the Stop 9 Church of Christ since 1968.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara A. (Bettinger) Scott, who passed away on March 25, 2023. They were married on August 2, 1969.
Jim is survived by two sons, Brian (Missy) Scott and Barry (Jess) Scott; a daughter, Karen (Tim) West; a brother, Robert (Linda) Scott; his grandchildren, Cole Scott, Brett (Kaylynn) Scott, Katarina (Josh) Moore, Dalton West, Desiree Scott, and Danielle Scott; a great-grandchild, Kinsley Moore; a sister-in-law, Shila Bettinger; a brother-in-law, William (Laura) Bond; and several nieces & nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 5, 2026, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Black-Epperson Funeral Home, Byesville, where funeral services will be held on Friday, February 6, 2026, at 11 a.m. with Evan. Woody Biggs officiating.
Burial will follow at Olive Cemetery, with military graveside honors conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council.
