Man charged with shooting mom

A Perry County man admitted to shooting his mom in the face, after a dispute Thursday morning, according to police.

New Straitsville Police Chief Kevin Gentzel reports it happened around 6am at a home on West Ewing Street in New Straitsville. Gentzel said 19 year old Micheal Callis and his mother, Kristina Boring were arguing when he shot her. Gentzel said, "we found the female victim, laying in the living room. She was Lifeflighted to OSU. The son was interviewed and confessed to shooting his mom."

Callis is being held at the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail, charged with felony assault, according to police.
