Dorothy “Joann” Bright

Dorothy “Joann” (Brown) Bright, 90, of Buffalo, peacefully passed away Friday (February 20, 2026) at her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born April 25, 1935 in Cambridge, daughter of the late John Brown and Ruth (Schofield) Brown.
Joann was 1953 graduate of Valley Local High School and she spent her career at the Pleasant City Post Office before retiring. She was also the owner of Bright Ceramics.
Joann was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Bowling League, and the Homemakers.
She was a member of the Stop 9 Church of Christ.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Larry Farrar, who passed away in 1977; her second husband, Elmer Bright, who passed away in 2013; her son, Tom Farrar; two sisters: Betty Vanest and Donna Shinn; and a brother, Aubrey Brown.
Joann is survived by two sons: Rick Farrar and Jim Bright; four daughters: Kathy (& Delbert) Abrams, Lori (& Tony) Jamiel, Sandy (& John) McElhaney; and Karen Kent; twelve grandchildren: Brad (& Mandi), Jason (& Mary Cae), Trent (& Kaylie), Troy (& Lindsay), Stacey, Tera (& Travis), Tyler (& Lisa), Tori (& Adam), Eriq (& Tiffany), Kyle (& Hailee), Wyatt (& Grace), and Amber; nineteen great-grandchildren: Olivia, Kaden, Emily, Elise, Addison, Myles, Eliott, Huxley, Kimber, Kenzlie, Kennedy, Kai, Aubriee, Addeysenn, Archer, Daisy, Parker, Owen, and Baby Boy; her caregivers, Amanda and Becky; and her dog, Molly.
Visitation will be held Monday (February 23, 2026) from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Black-Epperson Funeral Home, Byesville, where funeral services will be held Tuesday (February 24, 2026) at 11 a.m. with Evan. Mark Beros officiating.
Burial will follow at Buffalo Cemetery.
As an expression of sympathy, the family suggests memorial contributions be made in Joann’s name to Hospice of Guernsey Inc., PO Box 1165, Cambridge OH 43725.
