James F. Hogue was born on August 10, 1935, in Corning, Ohio; passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2026.

He lived a long and meaningful life rooted in family, service, and community.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Anna Compston Hogue. Together they built a strong, and loving family that includes their two daughters Lisa Cordray and Michelle Toth.

He was a very proud grandfather to Angela Hogue, Melissa Lindsey, Kyle Cordray, Adam Cordray, Leighton Hogue, Alisa Eveland, and Brianna Toth. A great-grandfather to 16, and great-great-grandfather to 6. All that brought immense joy to his life.

He is also survived by his two sisters, Rebecca Orr, and Bonnie Taylor.

He was preceded in death by his cherished grandmother, Allie Martin Roberts Smith; His two sons Rusty, and Jeffrey; His granddaughter Andrea Cordray; His parents Gene Hogue and Zelma Roberts Hogue; and his five brothers Burt, Gary, Larry, David, and Michael.

A proud United States Army military veteran and a retired Staff Sargent from the Ohio National Guard, he served his country honorably for 18 years. He was a dedicated member of the American Legion Post 376 in Junction City, the Fraternal Order of Eagles 463 in Corning, a benefactor member of the NRA, and seven time National Rifle Champion.

He loved making and drinking his homemade wine. He wasn’t just a beekeeper- he was the keeper of family, and a lot of love. His legacy lives on through the family he loved so deeply, and the many lives that he touched.

Calling hours will be held from 2-4pm and 6-8pm on Tuesday, March 3, 2026 at the Roberts-Winegardner Funeral Home, 304 Mill Street, New Lexington, Ohio.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at the funeral home.

Burial will follow in New Lexington Cemetery with military graveside services by the Corning American Legion.
