NEW CONCORD, OH – The Muskingum County Library System is getting ready for a party this weekend for the little readers in your life.

On Saturday March 7th from 11:30 until 12:30 at the New Concord Branch, there will be a Storybook Forest Costume Party that will feature 4 authors reading various fairytale and children’s books.

Scott Glover, the Branch Services Coordinator with MCLS, is encouraging everyone to don their best tiaras and super hero capes as they unveil the newly decorated kids area at the New Concord Branch.

“The ‘why’ behind the tree is to provide a space for kids when they come into the library that’s designated for them.” Glover said. “And to kind of take them back to storytimes that kind of have a theme of fairytales and exploring their imaginations and to just create a space for them that is enlightening like that.”

Glover says with all of the grey and snow we’ve been experiencing this winter, this costume party will give all attendees a small taste of Spring that still to come.

“Just to create that vibe here at the Library, we have snow coming down on Monday and by Saturday it’s going to be 70 degrees so we’re creating that vibe here in the Library that spring is coming.” Glover said. “The flowers are blossoming and the trees are in full bloom here in the library so you can come and experience all that with your family.”

If you are interested in attending the Storybook Forest Costume Party, you can head to MCLS’s website to get registered.
