Locals Holds Unite & Light the Way Out of Darkness Gathering

ZANESVILLE, Ohio — Local community members held their “Unite & Light the Way Out of Darkness” event tonight at the James Singer Activity Center.
The event which is attended by over 100 community members is designed to build a support system for those struggling with addiction.
“We are here to bring the community together to try to get a hold on the drug epidemic. There’s so many overdoses out there that we’re trying to save the lives, we want to get our city back, we want to make sure these people can get help. So we have different rehabs coming along to tell them how to get into their programs,” said organizer Christy Kinder.
While each gathering is different, tonight’s event included testimonies from two community members, as well as remarks from Sheriff Matt Lutz, prayer lead by local pastors, and a candlelight vigil musical performance.
We get together, we find out where want want to go with it for this month. Just like this month it’s going to be bringing the community into it, find out what they expect to come from the meetings. We need to decide where the loved ones can go, we need to find out how we can go about getting them off the streets,” Kinder added.
The next gathering will be held on Tuesday April 4th. All community members are welcome.
