Richard “Rick” Thomas Kirkendall, 73, passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2026 while in the presence of his loving family. He was born in Zanesville on June 5, 1952 to Joseph and Hazel (Kovaleski) Kirkendall. Rick was an avid lifelong bowler, who was a member of the Zanesville USBC Bowling Association, and bowled multiple 300 games. He was a huge supporter of the West Muskingum Athletic Boosters, and the Booster’s Bingo Hall for many years. He was a proud member of the Eagles and the Laborer’s Union #530, the latter of which he belonged to for 52 years. Rick attended St. Thomas Church, and worked for Shelly & Sands for 35 years. When he was not working at Shelly and Sands he could be found working with his parents at the Kirkendall Greenhouse for many years.

He is survived by his daughters, Alethea Ann and Angela Dawn; he will be deeply missed by his grandchildren, Hunter (Cassidy) Longwell and Liz White, as well as his great-grandson, Cohen Longwell, his brothers, Joseph (Rosemary) Kirkendall and Daniel (Katrina) Kirkendall, a sister-in-law, Lori Kirkendall, and many nieces and nephews.

Rick is preceded in death by his parents, his loving companion of 20 years, Carolyn Robison, his brother, David Kirkendall, and his cherished pets, Max, Rocky, Brutus, and Tank.

Friends and family are welcome to attend calling hours for Rick at the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE on Saturday, March 7, 2026 from 10AM to 1PM, with services starting at 1PM with Tim Patton officiating. Burial will follow at the Zanesville Memorial Park.
