Locals Race to Midway Speedway Stock Car Show

ZANESVILLE, Ohio — Midway Speedway held their stock car show at the Colony Square Mall this afternoon.
Community members had the opportunity to get up close to the cars and meet the racers. One vehicle owner took time to talk about his car and his upcoming race schedule.
“We’ve been racing for about four years, my son is going to start racing it this year. The manufacturer of the vehicle is Shaw, it’s a 2010 Shaw modified that we run in the ‘sport-mod class.’ It runs a small block Chevy motor. Depending on weather we’re going to try to hit at least 16-20 races,” said Jim Ludwig.
Ludwig added that while in the past they have stuck to more local races, this season they will try to travel around the entire state of Ohio and hit as many races as they can.
Midway Speedway added that while they get a lot of cars and fans at their events, there’s always room for me.
“It’s one of the hottest little race tracks around. It’s a lot of fun to race on a little bowl ring, the best racing you’ll see anywhere is down at Midway Speedway. You’re probably getting 1,000 to 2,000 people in the stands, but we’ve got a lot of room for a lot more people so come on down and watch the best racing around,” said Norman Aronhalt of Midway Speedway.
Midway’s first event of the year is the Jim Dunn Qualifier and will be held on Friday, April 7th.
