Neil Stanley Deye, 96, of Blacklick, Ohio passed away at 11:45pm on Thursday, March 5, 2026 at The Avalon in New Albany, Ohio.

Born October 1, 1929 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late John F. and Inez Kunkel Deye.

Neil was a United States Air Force Veteran; worked various jobs during his life including positions at the John F. Deye Company, his father’s sheet metal business, as an engineer with North American Aviation Missile Division and Systems Research Laboratories.

Since he was a child, Neil had a deep passion to flying and airplanes; he received his pilot’s license on September 16, 1950. Neil was presented the Wright Brothers “Master Pilot” Award from the FAA in 2007. He owned many small aircraft and he designed and built an airplane in his garage; he performed in air shows and was an A& P 1A flight instructor. Besides living in areas of Cincinnati and Columbus, Ohio. Neil also lived in airport communities of Moraine, Ohio, Punta Gorda, Florida and Gilbert, South Carolina.

Some of the organizations and clubs neil belong to included, Deacon at Rose Hill Church of Christ, attended church in Gilbert, S.C., Quiet Birdmen, Elks Club, A&P 1A Flight Inspector, Civil Air Patrol, EAA, Young Eagles Program and United Flying Octogenarians (UFO’s.)

Survived by his daughter, Janice Deye; grandsons, Tyler (Kristen) Deye and Taylor (Brittany) Deye; great-grandchildren, Daxon Deye, Gracelynn Burchett-Deye, Emberlynn Deye and preborn girl Deye; daughter-in-law, Edi Deye, sister-in-law, Nora Schantz; niece, Linda Chadwell and several other extended family and friends.

In addition to his parents, preceded in death by son, Mark John Deye; granddaughter, Monica Lane Deye; brother, Jack (Rita) Deye; former wife, Gladys Carr Briggs.

Calling hours will be held from 12pm-2pm with funeral service at 2pm with Jeremy Harper officiating on Wednesday, March 11, 2026 at the Roberts-Winegardner Funeral Home, 304 Mill Street, New Lexington, Ohio.

Burial will follow at the private family Cemetery in Perry County.
