Judy Covella

Judy C. (Dusenberry) Covella, of Crooksville, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2026, at Majestic Care of New Lexington under the care of Hospice of Central Ohio. Born on February 28, 1946, in Zanesville, Ohio, Judy’s vibrant spirit and infectious laughter brought joy to those around her throughout her 80 years of life. Judy grew up in the heart of Ohio, where she was nurtured by her parents, the late Walter Duseberry and Oneida (Caldwell) Bush. She shared her childhood with her brother, Robert Dusenberry, and sister, Linda Thomas, creating memories and a bond that would last a lifetime. She devoted herself to her surviving children, Brad (Lisa) Houk, and Tracey Covella. Judy was a pillar of strength and love for her grandchildren, Alex Houk, Olivia Covella, Taylor (Tommy) Russell and her extended family of several nieces, nephews, as well as a host of friends. Professionally, Judy was a respected real estate agent formerly employed for years with Carol Goff’s Century 21 agency. Her sharp mind and warm demeanor made her a favorite among clients and colleagues alike. Judy’s commitment to her community was evident through her involvement with the Crooksville – Roseville VFW, where she also spent many pleasant hours playing cards, sharing stories, and enjoying laughter with friends. Judy’s vivacity extended to her hobbies and social life. An ice-cold Pepsi in hand, she was often the life of the party at local establishments in town, where she readily shared her great personality. Judy was known for her welcoming embrace, always the first to greet you with a hug and a kiss, and perhaps an occasionally playful pinch on the neck. Her laughter was a melody that lifted the spirits of those around her, and her presence made every gathering brighter. She was preceded in death by her parents, son Eric Houk and her late husband Tom Covella. Calling hours will be held Friday, March 13, 2026, from 11:00 – 1:00pm at Ross-Frash Funeral Home, 207 Burley Street, Crooksville. Funeral services will be held beginning at 1:00pm with Pastor Marc Caton officiating with burial following in Zion Cemetery, Porterville.
