Elizabeth Stanton

Elizabeth “Betty” Sarah Stanton, 97, died Sunday evening, March 8, 2026, at Willow Haven Healthcare & Rehabilitation, Zanesville.
Born August 4, 1928, at Saint Mary Hospital in Watertown, Wisconsin. She was a member of Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church where she was a member of the choir, played the French horn in the band, and was church secretary for eight years. Betty was a 1946 graduate from Juno High School in Juno, Wisconsin. After graduation she was employed first as a receptionist and later as customer service manager for Aunt Nelies Foods office for thirty-five years. Upon her retirement in 1978 she moved to Dresden, Ohio to be the housekeeper for her cousin, Father Frank Miller at the rectory of St. Ann – St. Mary Catholic Church. After her cousin left our parish, Betty was later employed as a tour guide for the Dave Longaberger Company. She was known for her wonderful sense of humor and her ability to tell great stories. Betty always said it really wasn’t a job it was fun meeting the thousands of tourists and visiting the Longaberger facilities.
If you knew Betty, you knew her beloved cat Casey, her great stories, her many trips to Las Vegas, San Fransico, and trips to great restaurants and wineries. Her most memorable trip was a 21-day trip to Europe where she met Pope John Paul, kissed his ring and attended his private mass.
Betty cherished her faith and parish family. She was a member of St. Ann – St. Mary Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Gertrude (Molt) Stanton and father, Robert Stanton.
A warm thank you to the staff at Willow Haven Healthcare for their loving care they have provided for Betty over the past few years.
In lieu of flowers, memorial mass maybe be made to Robert Stanton Family.
Friends may visit from 10:30am -12:30pm, Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 6280 Saint Marys Road, Nashport, Ohio 43830.
Funeral Mass will be held at 12:30pm, Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 6280 St. Mary’s Road, Nashport with Father Martin Ralko officiating.
Betty will be laid to rest at Mattingly Settlement Cemetery, Nashport.
