Spring Break Time for Chamber of Commerce

ZANESVILLE, Ohio — The Zanesville-Muskingum County Chamber Of Commerce held their Annual Spring Break Meeting this morning at Littick Hall.
Almost 450 members showed up to the Chamber’s annual meeting which is designed to celebrate the success of local businesses in the community. And while the event is meant to help cultivate better business practices, they also like to have fun with it.
“It’s a way for us to celebrate the successes in our community. We gave out awards for economic development, we gave out awards for safety in the work place, and we thanked all of our members for being part of our organization. We call it ‘Spring Break’ just to bring some fun to the event so it’s not a stuffy meeting,” said Chamber President Dana Matz.
Among the fun that was had at the event was comedian Rick Roberts who delivered laughs as well as critical messages about improving business.
“We had the comedian Rick Roberts here doing comedy, but he also talked about distractions in the work place and how to improve them; and how across the country it costs businesses billions of dollars and talked to us statistically on how to minimize distractions, how to use time better in the workplace to save money and be more productive,” Matz added.
Matz also explained that the Chamber’s 29-person board meets monthly, and this event provides the Chamber with an opportunity to meet with, and communicate with all their members and see what they are doing, what effect they are having on the community, and how they are representing the local Chamber business.
Additionally, the ACES Awards that are presented are for the previous year. Matz says they will begin notifying companies in November for next year’s event and businesses should pay attention to that communication so they can nominate their business for next year’s meeting. In 2016, of $45 million invested in commercial construction in the community, $29 million was from Chamber member businesses.
