Robert D. “Bob” Mackley

Robert D. “Bob” Mackley, age 83, of Cambridge, passed away on , 2026, at Genesis Hospital in Zanesville following a sudden illness. He was born , 1942, in Cambridge, the son of the late Dale L. Mackley and Anna L. (Emler) Mackley.
Bob was a 1960 graduate of Cambridge High School. He spent his life doing what he loved most—driving. He was a lifelong truck driver and enjoyed every minute on the road. After retiring from trucking, he continued to serve the community as a driver for the Guernsey County Senior Center and Cambridge Heights Apartments. Over the years, he traveled to 49 states, driving to 48 of them, he had a special fondness for the Dakotas.
He cherished camping trips with his family and grandchildren. Bob was an avid Cleveland Indians and Ohio State fan. He loved riding his Goldwing with his wife Betty, especially their trips along the Tail of the Dragon. He also enjoyed his Mustang and being part of the Millennium Street Rodders.
A longtime member of the Cambridge Lions Club, Bob was excited to participate as a Keystone Cop in the upcoming show. He loved golfing—despite admitting he wasn’t very good—and spent many years on local bowling leagues. A lifelong resident of Indian Camp, he referred to himself as “self‑proclaimed mayor.” Known for his quick wit and endless supply of dad jokes, Bob brought laughter wherever he went.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Betty I. (Kornokovich) Mackley, who passed on , 2021; an infant brother, James; and a son‑in‑law, Karl Bailey.
He leaves behind his children: Bob Mackley Jr. (Judy), Brenda Bailey, and Becky (John) Roe; his grandchildren Amanda, Eric, Kati, Chris, Kelli, Paige, Haley, and Destaney; 11 great‑grandchildren; his “lady friend,” Shirley Carna; and his faithful dog, Darla. He is also survived by his brothers‑ and sisters‑in‑law Mary Ann (Jim) Church, James (Yvonne) Kornokovich, and Joseph (Sylvia) Kornokovich, along with many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Bundy‑Law Funeral Home on , 2026, from 3–7 p.m., and again on , from 12–1 p.m., with the service beginning at 1 p.m. Perry Baranich and Jim Lee will officiate. Burial will follow at Guernsey Memory Gardens. In Bob’s honor, please show up in Cleveland Indian’s or Buckeye’s attire.
