Donald P. Fairchild, 82, of Cambridge, passed away peacefully at his home on , 2026. Born , 1943, in Freeport, he was the son of the late Donald Willis Fairchild and Dorothy (Saft) Fairchild.
Don proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force. A man of deep faith, he was a devoted member of St. Benedict’s Church at Christ Our Light Parish. He was active in the Knights of Columbus and served as an assistant Scoutmaster for K of C Troop 526—roles that reflected his commitment to service and community.

When the company left Cambridge, Don and eleven partners founded Custom Tech Services Corp., where he continued to apply his sharp mind and steady leadership. Outside of work, he was an avid reader. He loved his farm, his property, gardening, his horses and his animals. He cherished time spent with his family above all else.
Don leaves behind his loving wife of 54 years, Stephanie (Lilly) Fairchild, whom he married on , 1971; and their daughters: Margaret E. Reed (Ohlen Cartmell), Susanna M. (Robert) Mascolino, Caroline L. (Guy) Googins, and Catherine A. (Wayne) Stevens, all of the local area. He was a proud grandfather to ten grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, and great-grandfather to two great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter. He is also survived by his siblings Deborah Kintner of Louisiana, Douglas Fairchild of Cambridge, David Allen (Joyce) Fairchild of Delaware, and Daniel Eric (Tjuana) Fairchild of Groveport; brother‑in‑law Craig West of New Concord; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his sister Delores West and his grandson Aaron Reed.
