Nexstar Brings Dance Competition to Zanesville

ZANESVILLE, Ohio — Nexstar hosted a National Dance Competition Sunday afternoon at the Secrest Auditorium.
16 different studios, both locally and nationally, sent dance teams to compete today. The event featured over 400 acts and included dancers ages 3 to 20 and over.
“Nexstar has been around for 16 years, and we travel all across the country– east to west, north to south– and we’re part of the “Star Dance Alliance.” It’s five different companies that travel internationally and nationally just to do what we love and put on dance competitions for area studios,” said Lindsey Pleasants, the Regional Manager for Nexstar Competition.
Pleasants explains that performing not only becomes a big part of these dancers lives on stage, but more importantly as they move forward in life.
“Hearing the music and doing all the choreography, that’s almost like a heartbeat in a way, and it becomes part of your life. It’s just a really positive environment and it’s a good choice that they can make. You know, a lot of them don’t dance after high school but they still hold those values of hard work, time management, you know, all of those positive traits they can keep that in college and when they go on to have jobs,” Pleasants adds.
Nexstar has 63 cities on their tour this year, but said this was their first trip to Zanesville. Pleasants thanked the community and venue for their incredible support during the event.
