ZANESVILE, OH – The Zanesville-Muskingum County Port Authority met this morning to discuss several ongoing and future projects aimed at boosting local growth.

Leaders shared an update on the Eastpointe transloading rail station project at the Eastpointe Business Park. They say progress is moving very well, with additional tracks recently added. The project is ongoing but is expected to be completed in May.

“The Port Authority owns and operates a transloading rail station in Eastpointe Business Park where local businesses bring in product on rail and then move that product to their facilities here within the county. We are expanding that facility from three tracks to five.” Port Authority Executive Director, Eric Reed said.

Officials say they’re also continuing to look at the National Road Business Park and opportunities to enhance the site to attract more business and bring more jobs to the area.

“It’s critical as we work to attract and retain business that we have sites and opportunities for new investment to come here that can create jobs. You get that by having good infrastructure and good site development. It’s our role to attract those folks here and you can best do that by having opportunities.” Reed said.

The Port Authority says they’ll continue working on current projects while planning for future development across Muskingum County and southeast Ohio.
