Joseph Wilson

Joseph W. Wilson, 66, passed away on April 15, 2026, leaving behind a life marked by steady dedication, quiet strength, and a deep love for the people around him.
Born on September 15, 1959, Joe built a life based on hard work and integrity. He was a partner at Wilson, Phillips & Agin, CPAs, Inc. since 1995, and spent decades in public accounting after beginning his career in 1987. Known for his precision and commitment, he served as the firm’s Quality Control Partner and played an active role in auditing, while also preparing corporate, partnership, and individual tax returns. Beyond his professional work, Joe shared his knowledge with others as an Associate Professor of Accounting at Muskingum University, where he impacted many students until his retirement.
Joe earned his undergraduate degree from Clarion University of Pennsylvania and his MBA from the University of Pittsburgh’s Katz Graduate School of Business. He was a proud member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Ohio Society of CPAs.
While his accomplishments were many, what defined Joe most was who he was to others. He had a calm presence that made people feel at ease, and he had the ability to strike up a conversation with anyone and leave them better for it. You couldn’t say Joe’s name without smiling. He loved fishing, hunting, traveling, cheering on the Steelers, and, most of all, spending time with his friends and family.
Joe is survived by his loving wife, Cynthia Sue Wilson; his children, Seth (Julia Peek) McKinney and Elysa (Andy) Roberts; his grandchildren, Briana Roberts and River Peek McKinney; his mother, Joyce Fry; his brother, George (Janet) Wilson; his niece and nephews, Nathan (Kelly) Wilson, Eric (Amber) Wilson, Christopher Wilson, Aurora Wilson, Brandon Conn, and Jared Alabran; his loyal dog, Jaxson Wilson; and many extended friends and family members on both Joe and Sue’s sides.
He was preceded in death by his father, Elmer Joseph Wilson, Stepfather, Clarence Fry, and his brother, Gary Wilson.
Joe will be remembered for his kindness, his steady presence, and the way he showed up for the people he loved. His absence will be deeply felt, but the memories he created and the lives he touched will carry on in the hearts of all who knew him.
