Robert “Bob” D. Miller Sr., 82 of Zanesville died under hospice care at 11:11 AM Thursday, April 16, 2026, at the Oaks at Bethesda following a courageous 5-year battle with mesothelioma and dementia.

He was born February 13, 1944, in Zanesville, Ohio, the son of Howard William Miller Sr. and Florence Mercer Miller.

Bob was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, and a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus 505, having served as Grand Knight and where he and Barbara spent many hours serving the community. Bob retired from ARMCO/AK Steel after 38 years and made many lifelong friends during his time there. He was an avid hunter who was happiest in the woods with his beagles and his hunting friends and family. Rabbit season ruled the family calendar and if you wanted to find Bob November through February, he would be in the woods.

He is survived by three children, Patricia Ann Boggs, Christine Marie Miller, and Robert D. (Jacala) Miller Jr.; three grandchildren: Jennifer Baker, Alex (Jared) Lewis, and Andrea (Alex) Edwards; 5 great grandsons, Tate & Eli Edwards, Jonah and Hayes Lewis and Howard Baker. Bob is also survived by a brother, Howard “Bill” W. (Marie) Miller Jr. and a sister, Vicki A. (Peter) Rapol; sisters-in-law, Karen Miller and Eve Miller, two brothers-in-law, Donnie (Edie) Wilson and Larry (Connie) Wilson, many nieces, nephews and cousins and Tim and Bobbi Shenkle who were the best neighbors ever.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Wilson Miller who died April 21, 2017, a son Michael D. Miller who died in infancy and two brothers James “Rick” Miller and Ronald “Ron” Miller; Mother and father-in-law, Garth and Virginia Wilson, and a sister-in-law, Connie Stallings.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM Monday, April 20, 2026, at the Bryan & Hardwick Funeral Home. Funeral mass to be celebrated 10:30 AM Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church with Fr. Stephen Ondrey as celebrant. Burial will conclude at Mt. Olive Cemetery.
