Jerry Wells

Jerry Lee Wells, 83, of Zanesville, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Saturday April 18, 2026, at his home.
He was born on January 27, 1943, in Zanesville, Ohio, son of the late Bryson Wells and Kathrine (Baughman) Wells. Jerry was a Vietnam Veteran, serving 20 years in the United States Army, where he retired as Sergeant First Class in 1984. Jerry enjoyed being in infantry, because “there was always something to do, never a dull moment” He later moved to Anchorage Alaska, where he worked for the USPS for over 20 years, while studying to be a teacher. Jerry had a deep love for his family and enjoyed spending time riding his Harley Davidson. In his later years, he got to spend months at a time traveling and visiting family.
Jerry is survived by his 2 children: Rebecca Wells and Kimberly Wright; sister, Donna Roberts; 3 grandchildren: Tabetha (Adam) Fitts, Robert Pendragon, and Thomas (Sarah) Wright; 5 great grandchildren: Izzy, Jackson, Emmett, Harper, and Skyler; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many beloved friends and brothers in arms that were considered family.
In addition to his parents, Jerry is preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years, Shirley (Spicer) Wells; sisters, Delores (Wells) Parshal, Lucille (Wells) Wright; and brother, John Wells.
A Celebration of Eternal Life and potluck will be held on Tuesday May 26, 2026, from 12:00 PM – 4:00 PM at the Eagles of Zanesville (1275 E. Market Street Zanesville, OH 43701), where full military honors will be presented by The United States Army in conjunction with the VFW George Selsam Post 1058 at 4:00 PM.
