ZANESVILLE, OH – This Week’s Dog of the Week is a sweet boy looking for a second chance.

Meet Ruger! He is a 3 to 5-year-old terrier mix who’s neutered, keeps a clean kennel, and is great with everyone he meets.

Doug McQuaid, a Volunteer at the K-9 Adoption Center, says Ruger was left at the Adoption Center by his previous owner, but that isn’t stopping Ruger from finding his forever home.

“He’s easy to walk on a leash, enjoys treats, loves affection, he’s just looking for his forever family.” McQuaid said. “You know, when you’re abandoned like that, the dogs take that personal just like any human being would. So you know, that would be something to take into consideration, it may take a little bit of time for him to warm up to people.”

McQuaid says if you are interested in Ruger, or any of the pups they currently have up for adoption, they have a play yard so you can see how the dogs will interact with you or other furry friends in your home.

He says this would be great for Ruger because it could give him time to come out of his shell and burn off some energy.

“Also too, we always talk about this, we love it when people who maybe have lost their pet, we always would like for you to give us a call.” McQuaid said. “Maybe we have your pet on sight, the best thing of the day is when pets are reclaimed and you know, we love adoption as well, but when dogs are reclaimed and like we said, and does have a family that they come from, when a dog gets lost, they often times don’t know where to actually get back to.”

If you are interested in adopting Ruger or for more information, you can reach out to the K-9 Adoption Center at (740)-453-0273.
