Marjorie Deavers
Marjorie Phyliss Deavers, 90, of New Straitsville went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 11, 2026 at 8:05am in her home. She was born on August 15, 1935 to the late Michael Wilson and Thelma Scott. She was a 72 year member of the New Lexington Baptist Church. Marjorie was a devoted homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her favorite things to do in life were to spend time with her family and friends, gardening, quilting, and playing the flute on Sunday services at church. The focal point of her life was her faith in Jesus Christ as her Savior. She strived to love God and love others as Christ had loved them. She loved to help others however she could.
She is survived by her son, Dennis (Lisa) Deavers of New Straitsville; daughter, Diane (Junior) Liston of Somerset; daughter, Shelia Jones of Lancaster; and son, David (Terri) Deavers of Aurora, Ohio; grandchildren, Adam (Karissa) Liston, Andy (Janeen) Liston, Hannah (Buddy) Miller, Daniel (Rachel) Jones, Matthew (Nicki) Deavers, and Morgan Deavers; half-sisters, Rita Deavers and Kathy Gall; half-brother, George Reed; as well as several great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Dale Deavers in 2011; her youngest son Brian Dale Deavers in 1968; her son-in-law, Greg Jones; her 3 brothers, Michael Wilson, James Wilson and Clyde Wilson; her 2 sisters, Beatrice Kaufman and Marie Winship: and her 2 half-sisters, Ruth Starner and Pauline Ratliff.
Calling hours will be held from 11:00am-1:00pm, on Friday, May 15, 2026, at the New Lexington Baptist Church, 890 South Main St. New Lexington, Ohio 43764.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00pm at the New Lexington Baptist Church, with Pastor Jon Emory officiating. The burial will immediately follow at the New Lexington Cemetery, 440 Swigart St. New Lexington, Ohio 43764.
