The Crone’s House offers tea from all over the world

ZANESVILLE, Ohio — Local vendors, and shoppers alike were out in full force again on Saturday morning at the Farmer’s Market at the Fairgrounds.

One vendor is bringing a variety of teas from all over the world to your mugs, and they aren’t just any run of mill flavors.

“We are a vendor selling loose leaf, dried organic teas from all over the world. Some of our best sellers are some of our more unusual teas. We sell a ‘mate’, which is a South American cuisine, mate is very is very popular with Latin American. Then we also sell a ‘lapsang souchong’, which is a very unusual tea, it’s a smoked tea. It comes from china,” explained April Lovejoy, Owner of The Crone’s House.

The Crone’s House also offers a tea called “Season of Discontent” which has bee pollen, among other things, in it to fight seasonal allergies. And while they have plenty of unique flavors, they still offer popular choices like chamomile leaves which are often used to rest or relax.

One feature that Lovejoy prides herself on is the fact that her tea offerings are all organic, which provides a healthier, and more flavorful product.

“Teas that aren’t organic are treated with pesticides and different things that can be really bad for you. The wholesalers that sell loose leaf tea come in and they pick all the teas first, and they get large leaves. There’s a big difference between bagged tea and loose leaf tea because the tea leaves are actually larger and you get a much better product, a much fresher product because when tea dries it loses it’s essential oils, which is what the flavor of the tea is,” added Lovejoy.

The Crone’s House sells their tea leaves by the ounce, and most cost between $2.00 and $4.00 per ounce.

In addition to their presence at the Farmer’s Market, The Crone’s House also has a farm and tea shop where they sell their leaves along with other herbs and spices. Their farm is located at 7905 Lower Kroft Road, Mount Perry, OH 43760.
