ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Now that the the primary election is over and the candidates are set, Zanesville is starting to become a campaign stop for people like former U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown.

The Democratic candidate in the race for U.S. Senate visited Taste of Ohio, Wine, Bourbon, and Beer on Friday to talk to voters about the upcoming election. Brown was in Noble County earlier in the day and discussed why it’s important to talk to Ohio communities of all sizes.

“Everybody in Muskingum County understands that if things, you know, family farms near by are hurting and farmers can’t afford the increase in diesel prices or fertilizer, that the whole community gets hurt,” Brown said. “So I’m in big cities, I’m in small towns like Zanesville, like where I grew up in Mansfield and I know what the beating beating up of industrial America and Ohio has done to families and I’m going to keep fighting. ”

Brown highlighted his priorities if he is able to return to Washington and why he believes he can do better in this election than he did in 2024 against Senator Bernie Moreno.

“Ohioans know that the systems rigged against them and they see it’s more rigged today than it was two years ago. They see drug prices going up, gas prices going up, diesel prices going up. They see we don’t have anybody in Washington, or in Columbus quite frankly, fighting for them, taking on those interest groups,” Brown said. “I mean this has been a government, in Columbus and Washington run by the billionaires. They get tax cuts they get stock market help. They’re making more money from drugs and oil and insurance than ever before.”

Brown is running against current Republican U.S. Senator Jon Husted in the November election. The deadline to register to vote is October 5 and you can learn about how to register to vote by visiting the Ohio Secretary of States website at OhioSoS.gov.
