Patricia “Patsy” Ilene Young, age 88, of Byesville, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2026 at the Genesis Hospice Morrison House in Zanesville. She was born on June 9, 1937, in New Athens, Ohio, to the late Leonard Fannin and Florence (Wells) Fannin Beebe.
Patsy retired in 2006 from Rolling Hills School. She enjoyed going to auctions, trapshooting, watching harness racing, and visiting Amish country with her late husband, as well as crocheting, working in her flowers, walking her late poodles (Koko, Kurly, and Maggie), and getting together with family and friends.
Patsy married the love of her life, James “Jim” Young, and they shared 72 years together. They were high school sweethearts who met at Sarahsville High School and were married on April 20, 1953.
In addition to her parents, Patsy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jim Young; her brothers, Donald Fannin (late Dorothy), Herbert Fannin (late Shirley), and Jerry Beebe (Donna).
She is survived by her children, Rick Young of Byesville, Kevin Young and wife Rita of Canton, and Janet Teas and husband David of Zanesville; her grandchildren, Lacey Slatten and husband Cody of Savannah, Georgia, Chelsea Callahan and husband Darrick of Byesville, Sebastian Teas of Athens, and Aubrey Teas of Columbus; and her three great-granddaughters, Summer, Sophie, and Sadie Callahan. She is also survived by her sisters, Beverly Fannin Vona of Navarre and Pamela Beebe of Florida; her cat, Millie; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
At her request, graveside services will be held Wednesday, May 20, 2026 at 11am at Greenwood Cemetery in Byesville, where she will be laid to rest beside her late husband, Jim.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Genesis Hospice Care of Zanesville, Ohio. The nurses and staff demonstrated exceptional support and dedication in making Patricia’s final days comfortable and peaceful.
